Service begins using the new Nova LFS low floor articulated buses on this route.

September 6, 2015

Service is increased in the midday from Monday to Friday, in the afternoon and early evening on Saturday, and in the early evening on Sunday and holidays, so that buses operate between Finch station and Humberwood at intervals of 10 minutes or better whenever the subway is open.

March 28, 2016

On this date, service is supplemented by the extension of the 199B FINCH ROCKET running between Finch station and York University paralleling service via Finch Avenue West between Yonge Street and Dufferin Street. No changes to destination signs or frequencies.

December 17, 2017

The extension of the SPADINA subway into Vaughan alters much of the service on the 36 FINCH WEST. Buses on this route have been changed to serve Finch West station north of the Keele/Finch intersection. Other than late evenings on weekdays and on weekend and holiday evenings, service is split at Finch West station. Buses on the 36B branch operate from Finch station west to Finch West station at slightly longer intervals than the line west of Finch West station, using 12-metre long buses. The “36B” branch designation is internal, however, to simplify the appearance of destination signs along the route. West of Finch West station, buses operate on the 36A branch over the old route to Humberwood, using articulated 18-metre buses. During late evenings on weekdays and weekend and holiday evenings, the service between Finch and Finch West station is interlined with the main branch to Humberwood west of Finch West station. This branch is internally designated “36J” for similar reasons.

The rush hour services to Milvan (36D) and Milvan via Fenmar (36F) are also cut back to Finch West station. Also on this day, the end of the line for the 36D and 36F services will change from Milvan Drive and Toryork Drive to Milvan Drive and Penn Drive to improve customer convenience.

Internally, the TTC logged five separate branches for 36 FINCH WEST. These were as follows:

  • 36A - Finch West Stn to Humberwood - Monday to Friday, except late evening; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, daytime
  • 36B - Finch Stn to Finch West Stn - Monday to Friday, except late evening; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, daytime
  • 36D - Finch West Stn to Weston Road and Milvan - Monday to Friday, rush hours only
  • 36F - Finch West Stn to Weston Road and Milvan via Fenmar - Monday to Friday, rush hours only
  • 36J - Finch Stn to Humberwood - Monday to Friday, late evenings; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, evenings

To simplify bus signage for customers, the TTC has altered most display signs as follows:
