Coincident with the opening of the BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY extension from Woodbine to Warden stations, the presence of Main Street station allows the TTC to split the old 62 MORTIMER-MAIN into 62 MORTIMER operating north and west from the station and 64 MAIN operating south from the station. 64 MAIN buses operate from Main Street station via south on Main and Southwood, west on Williamsoon and south on Wineva to Queen, returning via west on Queen, north on Hambly, east on Williamson and north on Southwood and Main to the subway. Service operates seven days a week, 18 hours a day. Buses operated out of Danforth Garage.

Track reconstruction on Queen Street forces a diversion at the south end of the line. Buses operate over the normal route to Southwood and Williamson and then loop via east and south on Glen Manor, west on Queen and north on Wineva and east on Williamson to Southwood and route.

April 19, 2005

As track reconstruction on Queen moves further along Queen Street east, service on 64 MAIN returns to normal, although the TTC augments service on the route to cover for the fact that streetcars aren’t operating on Queen Street east of Kingston Road.

October 8, 2016

Last day of operation north of Main Street station. Effective the next day, 64 MAIN buses operate south of Main Street station only, ending service on its northern loop, which operated via north on Main, east on Lumsden, south on Eastdale, west on Secord, south on Barrington, west on Doncaster, and south on Main Street.

Service on Lumsden, Eastdale, Secord, Barrington and Doncaster was already duplicated by the 87 COSBURN, which operates as part of the TTC’s 10-minute network. Service on Main between Doncaster and Lumsden is not replaced, but this street is one block away from stops on the 62 MORTIMER route, operating on Chisholm Avenue.

Due to construction closing the bus/streetcar loop at Main Street station until September 2018, service on 64 MAIN north of the station is temporarily restored. Buses divert via west on Danforth, north on Chisholm and east on Doncaster to Main before resuming the old loop of north on Main, east on Lumsden, south on Eastdale, west on Secord, south on Barrington, west on Doncaster, and south on Main Street. Service operates the same as it did during the September 2016 board period.

Sunday, September 4, 2018

With the construction at Main Street station’s bus terminal now at an end, regular service resumes, with all 64 MAIN buses operating south from Main Street station.

Sunday, September 1, 2024

Service on 64 MAIN and 87 COSBURN is adjusted so that the interlined routes operate at intervals of ten minutes or better whenever the subway is open, returning 87 COSBURN to the 10-Minute Network.
