January 20, 1947

Service begins on a new route running from the Bloor Street, Royal York Road intersection via south on Royal York and west on the Queensway to wye at Kipling Avenue. Service operates from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and between noon and 6:30 p.m. Saturdays. Fares are 5¢ for adults, 3¢ for children, with no tickets sold or transfers offered for connections to other routes.

March 17, 1947

First and last trips cancelled. The 8:30 a.m. westbound trip extended one mile west of Kipling.

March 22, 1947

Saturday service cancelled.

March 1, 1949

Service extended west on the Queensway and then south on Brown’s Line to Long Branch loop.

All day service now offered, 7 days a week.

Hours extended. Base headways are every 60 minutes, with buses operating every 30 minutes during rush hours.

On weekdays, buses depart Bloor as follows: Every 30 minutes 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., every 60 minutes 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., every 30 minutes 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and every 60 minutes 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On Saturdays, buses depart Bloor as follows: Every 30 minutes 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., every 60 minutes 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., every 30 minutes 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and every 60 minutes 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On Sundays, buses depart Bloor as follows: Every 60 minutes: 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

July 1, 1954

As part of the newly formed Toronto Transit Commission’s reorganization of transit fares throughout Metropolitan Toronto, the QUEENSWAY bus now operates within suburban fare zones 1 and 2. Transfers are available for connections with the MIMICO and KINGSWAY buses (at Royal York and Queensway and Bloor and Queensway respectively, in zone 1) and with the LONG BRANCH streetcar (at Long Branch Loop in zone 2). The route now loops clockwise at the north end via east on Bloor, south on Grenview Boulevard South and east on Meadowvale Drive.

October 3, 1955

Service begins on a rush-hour branch designed to serve the Alderwood industrial and residential areas. From Bloor and Royal York, buses operate over the regular route to Wickman Road and then proceed via south on Wickman, west on Evans, south on Bellman, west on Valermo to Brown’s Line, rejoining the regular route and proceeding south to Long Branch loop. Buses return via the reverse route.

April 1, 1957

Service on the rush-hour branch revised to service Norseman Street. Buses operate from Royal York and Bloor via south on Royal York, west on Norseman, south on Kipling, west on Evans, south on Bellman, west on Valermo to Brown’s Line, rejoining the regular route and proceeding south to Long Branch loop.

November 9, 1959

Service increased on a portion of the Valermo branch. Outside of rush hours, additional buses follow the main route from Royal York and Bloor to Kipling and the Queensway and then run via south on Kipling, west on Evans, south on Bellman, west on Valermo to Brown’s Line, rejoining the regular route and proceeding south to Long Branch loop. During rush hours, buses on this branch operate via Royal York, Norseman and Kipling to Evans, before following this branch. Branch numbers and rollsigns not known.

August 31, 1963

Last day of operation. Service replaced by portions of the new 73 ROYAL YORK and the 80 QUEENSWAY buses. Service on Norseman eliminated.
