76A rush hour short turn service to the Queensway is replaced by a new rush hour branch operating over the regular route to the Queensway and then looping via east on the Queensway, south on Grand and west on Portland to Royal York, returning via the reverse route. This arrangement provides new service to an area some distance from a bus stop, with no increase in operating costs.

As part of the TTC's Ridership Growth Strategy, service on the 76A branch to Grand Avenue is increased to every thirty minutes, seven days a week, whenever the subway is open.

July 20, 2010

As of the time of this writing, service on 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH operates every roughly every seven minutes during rush hours, every nine minutes during weekday middays, every fifteen minutes during weekday evenings, every twelve minutes during Saturdays, and every fifteen minutes during Sundays. In addition, buses on the 76A branch operate at thirty minute intervals, seven days a week, whenever the subway is open. Service is provided by accessible buses (and has been for some time).

May 8, 2011

As part of a general reallocation of resources, service on the 76A "Grand Avenue" branch is cut back. Buses no longer operate on this branch after 10 p.m. on weekdays or all day on weekends or holidays.

June 22, 2014

As part of a system-wide reorganization of route branch designations, southbound buses the 76 main branch to Lakeshore Boulevard are redesignated 76A. A 76C designation is given to buses heading south to the Queensway, on their way out of service to Queensway Garage. All northbound buses retain a 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH designation.

Weekend and holiday daytime service is restored to the 76B "Queensway & Grand Avenue" branch. In addition to this, service is increased on the 76A "Lake Shore" branch on weekday evenings, in the early morning and in the evening on Saturdays and in the late evening on Sundays and holidays, so that service operates at intervals of 10 minutes or better whenever the subway is open.

Sunday, May 7, 2017

With construction at Royal York station taking the bus terminal out of service for approximately 18 months, buses on 73 ROYAL YORK and 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH are interlined and no longer enter the station. Northbound buses will serve a stop outside the main station entrance. Southbound buses will serve stops southbound nearside on Royal York at Bloor.

Sunday, August 4, 2019

With the completion of work on the bus roadway at Royal York station, interlining with the 73 ROYAL YORK route comes to a close. It's possible that the work could have been completed sooner, and buses entered the station earlier at the division's discretion.

Sunday, August 1, 2021

Due to remedial construction work required at Royal York Station from its Easier Access project in 2019, the bus terminal has to be closed to buses for four weeks. As a result, service on 73 ROYAL YORK is again interlined with 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH, with buses picking up passengers in front of the subway station. Schedules are the same as they were for the August 2018 board period.

Sunday, September 5, 2021

Remedial construction at Royal York Station is set to end, and interlining between 73 ROYAL YORK and 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH is no longer required. Service is adjusted for all periods to help improve on-time performance, with weekend service levels improved during the daytime.

Tuesday, September 3, 2024

School trippers operating between Royal York Station and the Queensway are formalized as the 76C branch, which was previously used only for garage run-ins.
