As track works reconstruction at Broadview station lingers on, route extended to Warden station east from Coxwell via O’Connor and St. Clair, replacing the suspended 70C O’CONNOR. Service is removed from Coxwell, Plains and Lankin. This route’s extension to Warden station harkens to the proposal that the Borough of East York proposed in 1981 that services in the borough would be restructured which occurred in October 1984. Among them was the 70 O’CONNOR extension to Broadview station that would’ve replaced the 8 BROADVIEW bus, and the proposal was then shelved. This was also proposed as the 114 ST. CLAIR EAST in the 2021 Annual Service Plan which would’ve followed the 70C routing.
Originally to interline with 62 MORTIMER south and east to Victoria Park station, whose home terminal Main Street station was closed to track work, buses on this route continue to operate from Broadview station but interline with the 62 MORTIMER continues to proceed.
Buses now operate out of Birchmount Garage instead of Eglinton (Comstock) Garage for the duration of the reconstruction.
