82 ROSEDALE is Toronto’s oldest continuous running bus route. Serving the exclusive neighbourhood of Rosedale, buses proved to be effective vehicles in serving riders feeding into Toronto’s streetcar network. The neighbourhood is an enclave, with access from the north and the east restricted by the Canadian Pacific railway tracks and the Don Valley respectively. With only one through road (Mount Pleasant), the demand for through transit service has remained slight, and the TTC’s task has been to moving riders from inside the neighbourhood to various entry and exit points on Yonge or Bloor Streets.

April 26th, 1922

Circular route begins operation, running from Glen Road & South Drive via Glen, Summerhill Avenue, MacLennan Avenue, Schofield Avenue and Highland Avenue back to Glen & South Drive. Alternate buses operate the loop in the opposite direction. Route is assigned #3.
