October 14, 1984

Service begins on a new route replacing a portion of the “Donlands-Jones” branch of the 8 BROADVIEW bus. Buses operate from the bus terminal at Donlands station on the BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY via south on Donlands, west on Danforth Avenue, south on Jones, west on Queen, south on Berkshire, east on Eastern, east on Mosley, south on Leslie and west on Commissioners, looping through the TTC’s Lakeshore Garage. Buses return via east on Commissioners, north on Leslie, west on Queen, north on Jones, east on Danforth and north on Donlands to Donlands station.

Buses operate 7 days a week, 18 hours a day (with a 9:00 a.m. start on Sunday). Buses operate out of Danforth Garage.

February 18, 1996

As part of a system-wide service cutback due to the elimination of provincial subsidies for public transportation, all late-evening weekend service and all Saturday, Sunday and holiday service is discontinued.

March 18, 1996

Southbound service is rerouted to operate via south on Jones, east on Queen and south on Leslie to Commissioners. Service on Berkshire, Eastern and Mosley is eliminated.

February 14, 1999

Saturday service reinstated, operating between approximately 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

November 23, 2008

As part of the TTC’s Ridership Growth Strategy, late evening and Sunday service reinstated. This route now operates at intervals of 30 minutes or better whenever the subway is open.

Service frequencies are increased to approximately every fifteen minutes at all times of the operating day (sixteen minutes during the midday on weekdays) in order to reduce travel time for crews between Leslie Barns and relief points.

With the deadhead extension of the 114 QUEEN’S QUAY WEST into Lakeshore Garage, the end-of-line of this route is shifted from Lakeshore Garage Loop to 545 Commissioners Street.
