93 Danforth East Night (1974-1987)

Compiled by Pete Coulman

September 4, 1974

Service begins on a new all-night bus service operating from Main Street station via south on Main, east on Danforth Avenue, northeast on Danforth Road, north on Warden, east on St. Clair, northeast again on Danforth Road and north on McCowan to the Scarborough Town Centre. Buses loop clockwise at the Town Centre via west on Progress, south and north on Borough Drive, east on the Service Road, north on Borough Drive, east on Progress to McCowan and return

Service provided from 2:23 a.m. to 5:55 a.m., Mondays through Saturdays and from 2:25 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. on Sundays. Buses connect outside Main Street station with the existing 10 BLOOR-DANFORTH NIGHT BUS and the CARLTON night car service.

By September 1975, service was assigned route number 93. It is not known if the service was assigned route number 93 from the start, as that would have conflicted with the 93 WOODBRIDGE route which was still in operation at the time. Initially, buses bear a blank destination sign with “DANFORTH EAST NIGHT BUS” window cards.

Routing revised and two early trips added at 125am and 155am. Revised routing from Main Stn via south on Main, east on Danforth Avenue, northeast on Danforth Road then north on McCowan Road to the present looping at Scarboro Town Centre. The 1:25 a.m. and 1:55 a.m. trips begin at Main Street station and run over the previous routing via Warden and St Clair to route. Linen rollsign now available for use.

Coincident with the route change, the late night and early morning 9B BELLAMY bus service, which operated between Main Street Station and St Clair Avenue East, is discontinued.
