WESTWAY “Shopper’s Route”

December 14th, 1959

A new Monday through Friday “shoppers’ service” is introduced in central Etobicoke to operate between the rush hours. Buses run from Humbertown Plaza (on Royal York Road just north of Dundas Street) via The Kingsway, Islington Avenue, The Westway, Benbow, Saskatoon and Lawrence Avenue to Weston Road, looping north and east on Little, south on Main Street and west on Lawrence, then returning over the same route to Humbertown Plaza.

Route discontinued coincident with the extension of the 45 KIPLING route to Weston.

98 WESTWAY

September 4th, 1962

A new route is established from Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue running via Lawrence, Royal York Road, Trehorne and The Westway, looping west on Redgrave, north and east on Waterbury and south on Martin Grove Road. This route is operated from Parkdale Garage.

Last day of service. The following day the 52 LAWRENCE route is extended west of Weston Road to Martin Grove Road over the 98 WESTWAY route.
