TTC 0000 Accessible Transit 19480129-01

This photo shows TTC R-23 Twin Coach #574 modified for wheelchair service. This news photo taken by Acme Newspictures for New York on January 29, 1948, states, "SPECIAL BUS FOR CRIPPLED VETERANS - TORONTO, CANADA: Canadian war veteran Peter Parks is helped down the ramp of the new wheelchair bus. The bus made its debut when a group of paraplegic veterans visited the Toronto Art Gallery. Wheelchairs are placed side by side and the wheels fastened so that the chairs won't roll when the bus is in motion. It was converted from a standard twin coach bus."
