19750000 - 61 Nortown - TTC 9200 Eglinton and Mount Pleasant

This scene can never be repeated. Here in this circa 1975 shot at Mount Pleasant and Eglinton, a rebuilt Flyer on the 61 NORTOWN route passes a St. Clair streetcar exiting Eglinton Loop. Soon, the eastern portion of the St. Clair streetcar would be broken off to form the 74 Mount Pleasant route and, by 1977, trolley buses would be serving it. Today, the trolley buses are gone and 61 Nortown is now 103 Mount Pleasant North. Eglinton Loop remains, now operating beneath a high-rise residential building, serving the 74 Mount Pleasant bus. This picture was sent to us by Richard Kunz and the **New Electric Railway Journal** and it is used with permission.
