1953 - Dovercourt Streetcar

An all-electric PCC prepares to cross the railway tracks westbound on Davenport Road, just east of Wiltshire. This shot was taken in the early 1950s, and the PCC is likely operating in HARBORD service. PCCs were assigned to DOVERCOURT on October 1, 1942 for night service only, and on October 16, 1945 for a limited number of rush hour runs. Photos of PCCs operating as DOVERCOURT cars are rare. Far more PCCs operating on Dovercourt did so as HARBORD cars. The photographer is unknown and the image is courtesy the Toronto Public Library.
