North Yonge Railways 19221019

Soon after the Toronto Transportation Commission acquired the rights to the Toronto Railway Company's track and equipment, and the properties of the Metropolitan Railway, it set to work improving service on Yonge Street. This short looks north on Yonge from Farnham Avenue, where city tracks are already in place on October 19, 1922, just six weeks after the takeover. Streetcars have been pressed into service along the old Metropolitan line. The image is courtesy the Toronto Archives.
