On September 12, 1949, eleven months after the end of rail service, but before the tracks were ripped up, Julian Bernard took this picture of the waiting room at Richmond Hill. It was located on the east side of Yonge and is no longer standing (the brick building to the left is still standing as of May 2013). Note the stub-end spur track on the south side of the station building, which dates back to T&YRR days. Julian does not recall ever seeing that track used, but reader Gord Young, of Lakefield Heritage Research, recalls that the track stored the last car, Sundays through Thursdays. The car would stay locked overnight to provide the first southbound run, Monday through Friday.
