Bloor-Danforth Subway 12 Christie 197610

A Toronto Star photograph by Doug Griffen shows the extent of damage to one of the subway cars at the Christie station fire. The caption reads, "Burned-out ruins of four Bloor subways cars are examined by firefighters at Christie subway station. A $2.5 million fire early today left the aluminum-hulled cars melted and twisted. Subway travel for thousands of people will be disrupted until early next week. About 70 shuttle buses wee pressed into service in rush-hour." Image courtesy Nathan Ng's Station Fixation.
