Details:

  • Ended project to rebuild the St. Clair West Station streetcar / bus platform and tracks.
  • Continued removing the tracks and roadbed and building a new right-of-way between McRoberts and Westmount Avenues.
  • Prepared for phase 2 of the project between Vaughan Road and Westmount.
  • Prepared for separate Bathurst Street projects to rebuild the streetcar tracks between Bloor and St. Clair and to rebuild the roadway north of St. Clair.

(The two Bathurst projects also affected how the TTC detoured services along St. Clair.

(For example, rebuilding the streetcar tracks along Bathurst Street temporarily isolated the 512 ST. CLAIR streetcar operating from their home base at the Roncesvalles Carhouse. TTC operates just seven streetcars at a three-minute frequency between St. Clair West and St. Clair Stations until late evenings, when buses replaced the streetcars. The TTC then had to store the streetcars overnight inside the streetcar loops at St. Clair and St. Clair West Station.)

Transit service:

  • 7A BATHURST: Friday, March 28, 2008 was the last day that the TTC operated buses along this short-turn branch of the route between Wilson and St. Clair West Stations. Although the official documents announced that the TTC was “temporarily” canceling the service until fall because of the Bathurst and St. Clair construction projects - in fact, service never resumed.
  • 7 BATHURST route split into two services, seven days a week. Buses operating on the 7B branch will operate between St. Clair West and Bathurst Station. Buses operating on the 7C branch will operate between Steeles Avenue West and St. Clair West Station.
  • 33 FOREST HILL: Buses started and ended their trips at a temporary stop inside St. Clair West Station.
  • 90 VAUGHAN: Buses started and ended their trips at a temporary stop inside St. Clair West Station.
  • 126 CHRISTIE: Buses started and ended their trips at a temporary stop inside St. Clair West Station. Southbound buses operated westward along the streetcar right of way to just beyond Vaughan Road, where they operated along the curb lane before turning southward along Christie Street to Christie station. Northbound buses reversed the routing.
  • 312 ST. CLAIR NIGHT: Regular route.
  • 512 ST. CLAIR: Buses - Gunn’s Loop to St. Clair West Station. Streetcars - Oakwood Loop to St. Clair Station. Service every three-to-four minutes Mondays to Fridays during rush hours; every five-to-ten minutes at all other times of the week. Streetcars and buses both drop off and pick up passengers inside St. Clair West Station.

TTC operated seven streetcars on the route between St. Clair and St. Clair West Stations seven days a week before midnight. From Mondays to Fridays: seven cars every three minutes. Saturdays: six cars every three and a half minutes. Sundays, holidays: five cars every four minutes. Streetcars and buses both drop off and pick up passengers inside St. Clair West Station.
  • 512 ST.
