On a beautiful fall day in October, PCC 4549 was chartered for what was called the 'Red Rocket Mystery Tour'. The streetcar was fresh out of TTC's Hillcrest shops and looked next to new. This charter was organised by Brad O'Brien, with many of his friends, family members and transit toronto mailing list members joining along.
The charter departed the Connaught (Russell) carhouse at about 10:30 and we arrived at Queen and York streets, which was the pickup point at about 11:55.
Here are the photos of the charter:

Before the streetcar left the barn, Brad managed to take this closeup of the banner which is on the side. It is to help the public become aware of the TTC's 'Red
Rocket' charter service. You can charter out a PCC by calling 416-393-4636.
Streetcar rentals are great for weddings, sightseeing tours, pub crawls, birthdays or for a afternoon ride through town. You can also rent out an ALRV (the longer streetcar
types that run on 501 and 511) or a CLRV (the shorter streetcars) if you wish.

Here is a shot of Brad (in the orange) and friend Andrew sitting on the steps on the streetcar before it departed Connaught to pick up the rest of the group. 4549 had been beautifully refurbished by TTC forces, inside and out.

After the pick up at Queen and York, we headed to the Wolesley loop. Wolesley is a great place to get a shot of the streetcar with the CN Tower in the background. Best of all, it doesn't see regular use so you can lay over in there as long as you need to.

We also visited Main Street station. You can see some of the people who attended taking their pictures and video.

The charter also visited the Bingham loop. Here 4549 is going south on Bingham avenue as a few railfans and area residents watched.

We looped the loop at Bingham, something which is pretty rare, even on streetcar charters.

It was now towards the end of the charter and unfortunatly we couldn't visit Neville as time was running out and 4549 had to be back at the carhouse in time for another event. This shot was at Woodbine loop.

It was 5:00 by now and our streetcar was on it's way back to the Russell Carhouse to conclude the tour. Here is another interior view of the streetcar.

The charter arrived back at Russell at about 5:04 pm. As soon as we arrived, the yard crew prepared the PCC for yet another charter.

This charter was organsied by Brad O'Brien, with the help of Scott Mitchell and Ray Neilson.
Until next time!
