The year 1971 was a special one for Toronto transit fans. As the fiftieth anniversary of the Toronto Transit Commission approached, the TTC and transit fans organized a number of charters and events to celebrate the occasion. Among the charters were a number of air-electrics, including 4226, as these were being slated for retirement after being rendered surplus by the commission. Transit photographer Richard Glaze attended a number of these charters, and we’ve built a gallery of them here.
